First things first, say Kinrara folks

BANDAR KINRARA residents want the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) to put off the opening of the link road to Taman Puncak Jalil until the interchange linking the neighbouring housing area to the Bukit Jalil Highway has been completed.

MPSJ, they claim, had promised to do so during a meeting with Bandar Kinrara residents in May but then made a complete about-turn and decided to open the link before work on the interchange had even started.

Ang...residents are disappointed that the council decided to change its mind despite all the discussions
Bandar Kinrara Section 5B residents association chairman Ang Sae Ming said the residents held several meetings with MPSJ to discuss the opening of the link especially after traffic chaos ensued when the link was opened for a trial run in May.

He said the residents were not only disappointed that the council decided to change its mind after all the discussions but were also upset that the Bandar Kinrara residents were not informed of the change.

Bandar Kinrara Section 6 resident Ahmad Fauzi Abdul Manaf said residents in Bandar Kinrara were also left wondering if the interchange in Taman Puncak Jalil would ever be built once the link was opened.

“Residents in Taman Puncak Jalil want the link because it will allow them to use the traffic lights or the flyover in Bandar Kinrara to get to the opposite side of the Bukit Jalil Highway and head towards Kuala Lumpur,â€

Star Newspaper Report on the Link Road to Bandar Kinrara

I would like to extend my disappoinmrnt on the article in the Star Newspaper today, 24th June 2006 pertaining to the opening of the Link Road to Bandar Kinrara.

I’m sad and in disbelief with the comment from the Residents of Bandar Kinara on the reason why they did not agree with the opening. They mentioned about the Interchange, when I personally told our Dato’ Yang DiPertua MPSJ in the meeting in May 2006, that the reason why we need the link road open immediately, is because we need to close the Roller Coaster so as to enable us to complete the Access Road from Sg Besi – Puchong Highway within three months as personally promised by Tan Sri Chan Ah Chai of Talam Corporation. As we all know the Interchange will be built by DBKL and Ho Hup Corporation with the contribution of Slip Road to Kuala Lumpur by Talam Corporation as the Developer of Taman Puncak Jalil. We can only convince DBKL on the building of the Interchange once the Access Road from Sg Besi – Puchong Highway is ready.

As for traffic congestion, from my own observation, happens during rush hour from 6.30 am – 8.30 am, and this can be resolved by putting enforcement officer at critical traffic lights as promised by Dato’ Yang DiPertua MPSJ.

We hope the Full – Board MPSJ Council Meeting which will be held on 28th June 2006, can decide favourably with just, as the question here is, who needs help most, now? The residents of Taman Puncak Jalil who are going through consistent fear when using the Roller Coaster Road, or the residents of Bandar Kinrara who are only concerned about the would – be traffic congestion when we use their road. My last question is, where in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya you don’t face traffic congestion….?

Very disapointed to the article!

What is the basis for MPSJ to decide either to open or not to open?
Is it based on the micro level of because somebody making noice  , or looking at bigger picture such as "how many people benefit if the road is opened?", "what is the safety level for x number of road users continue using the RC, how can the situation improved?", of course the flip side will be "how serious the predicted traffic congestion ? Is it manageble?"

I'm a beginner of management, can any expert share some ideas?

Well, we can get angry about it, or we just can laugh and let them complain even more, for me they are just trying to pull some strings again, and making them less listened too. They know MPSJ did talk with our RA, and they know what was decided (they could even read it here online!) by now publishing a story like this in the news paper doesn't gain their trust of me or any other organisation in Malaysia. Sad actually.

Let them be, and let the MPSJ make a decision they should have made earlier, we need to get things done, if MPSJ would decline opening the road and the roller-coaster needs to be as is, they may be responsible for any accidents on the road from then on, i wouldn't want to have that responsibility on me.

Hope this issue gets solved soon, and hope the Kinrara residents will calm down and try to work with us, so we all can live safe and sound. At this point i do not think their RA is doing what is in the best interest for their community.

Kindest regards,
Patrick

I just hope that MPSJ can judge the whole scenario rationally and comes out with a favourable decision of opening the link, else PUJ residents might have to do something more drastic.

BK residents are worried about their fear of traffic congestion.

TPJ residents are worried about the loss of lives.

Which one is more important.

You judge.

Closing the RC and opening the link means additional 24 km journey for us each day and for the safety, we greatly anticipate the opening. Now we just have to wait for few more days...

Well, I hv put my comments under Reply to topic......The Star.......
And I would like to add in few more points here.

1.What if so unfortunate the rd is still closing this mth end? What shall we do ? R we going for a press conference ? If yes, I would appreciate the victim family members grasp the opportunity to express their feelings. No doubt this is not a good idea as it brings back sad memories, but this is for u and also PUJ residents. We don't want additional victim and we concern of our family members.

2. In addition, since Kinrara RA is lack of confidence, so "anyone else" is willing to guarantee the access rd will be ready in 3 mths beside Mr Chan's (seems not sufficient enough).

3.As I mentioned before, worst situation : close the roller coaster rd as well, use Serdang main rd, suffer for 3 mths. Short pain is better than long pain.

Of course, I hope everything is going smooth that the rd is open and everyone is happy. :D

The RA of Kinrara has again displayed their selfishness and egostic by trying not to allow their neighbour linking into their township for fear of massive traffic jams and possibly inconveniently distrupting their daily rush hours. And this time round, they even willing to spend some money and get theStar to highlight their stories & hope the Authority will listen and bow to their demand...wat a bullshit!

Both townships are under the care of MPSJ and as a City Council, MPSJ must be fair and firm in its jurisdiction. All of us are paying quit rents to the same Authority and so, MPSJ must be fair and consider the priority of things & safety of road users and without favouritism to any single party (esp to some ppl who only know how to worry abt their traffic jams).

Agree with the Star newspaper article

Postby Jalil » Mon Jun 26, 2006 4:42 pm

I completely agree with the substance of the article in the Star. Just because we failed to pressure Talam to make good on its past promises, we passed our problems to be shouldered by BK residents. Based on past experience, how can we be sure that the interchange can be completed within three months? Think again.
